How did the book begin?
The book came about from parents who’d loved my first book but had sons and felt they deserved something to read through their own years of puberty. Levi was born.
You’d think Levi would be harder to write, being female, but it wasn’t. In fact, I wrote Levi in 3 weeks, whereas Poppy took me 4 weeks.
Here's a synopsis of the story...............
Levi Sprocket is a laidback, easy-going guy, who dreams of one day being an actor. However, Levi’s journey growing up comes with some pitfalls and embarrassing moments as he deals with the changes within his body and with his maturing attitude.When some of the girls at Levi’s school mention his body odour, Levi doesn’t pay too much attention. Until a few more subtle hints make him feel unsure of himself. Then his voice starts to crack right at the time he auditions for the lead role in the school play. Along with his sudden attraction to classmate Ali and his growing self esteem issues, Levi learns to draw on his family and friends as he weaves his way through puberty and comes to terms with his growing body.
This book is a great way to introduce puberty to young boys. It can be read with an adult or boys can read it themselves.
I've aimed the book for 9 to 14 year olds although it seems many other girls are reading it too.
